Feathered Gems Jewelry is proud to announce that once again we will be sponsoring a
greyhound-related tattoo photo contest during Greyhounds Reach The Beach weekend
2008.
All proceeds will benefit Morris Animal Foundation's canine
cancer research fund.
Voting will take place at 116 Read Street, Dewey Beach DE between October 9 and 11, 2008.
The winners will be announced at the same location on Saturday evening, October 11, 2008
immediately following the Greyhounds Make Great Pets "Mardi Greys" costume contest.
Why
do we hold a photo contest rather than a live tattoo contest?
First, there is
the
scarcity of suitable locations in Dewey Beach for such a potentially large event.
Second, some people might be uncomfortable
exposing portions of their tattooed anatomy in front of a large group of
onlookers.
Third, not everyone
can attend Dewey in person.
The Rules
ENTERING
You DO NOT have to attend Dewey Beach 2008 to enter!
Entry fee is $5 per photo, and each photo automatically gets 5 votes.
Photos will not be returned.
Winners from prior years may enter.
Tattoos must be greyhound-related.
Harley logos, "mom", flowers,
etc. are
nice,
but this is DEWEY--it's all about the greyhounds!
Mail us good, clear photos of your tattoos, either 35mm photos or printed on photo-quality paper. Sorry, we can't accept digital pictures this year.
The clearer the details of the tattoo show up in the picture, the better your
chances of winning. If your tattoo is near your face, please try to keep
your face out of the photo.
We want the tattoos to remain anonymous for voting
purposes.
Cover up any visible non-G-rated portions of anatomy in the
photos, please --
Dewey is a family event!
If you have more than one tattoo, there is no limit on the number of photos
you may submit,
but please send only one photo of each tattoo.
Maximum acceptable photo size is 5"X7".
VOTING
Photos will be displayed at our vendor mansion, 116 Read Street, Dewey
Beach,
during our business hours on
Thursday through Saturday afternoon of Dewey weekend.
Viewers will vote with their money by buying tickets from us to put
into containers under each tattoo pic. Voting tickets will be $1 each.
*You'll be asked to put your name and phone number on your voting
tickets--see below for a very good reason!
There is no limit to the number of tickets you may purchase and use for
voting, and you may vote for your favorite tattoo photo as many times as
you'd like. This is a fundraiser, not a federal election!
All proceeds from the Feathered Gems Tattoo Photo Contest will be donated to the
Morris Animal Foundation.
The photos will be on display from Thursday morning thru 4:00PMon Saturday of
Dewey weekend. We'll count votes after we close up shop on Saturday afternoon,
The winners will be announced right after the
Greyhounds Make Great Pets Mardi Greys costume contest is
completed.
We
will also have the names of the contest winner and the drawing winner, and how much
the contest raised for Morris Foundation, announced at the Sunday brunch.
And once again, you do not have to attend Dewey Beach 2008 to enter.
If
the owner of the winning tattoo is not at the event, we'll mail the prize to them.
WINNING
There will be one winning tattoo chosen based on which one receives the most
votes.
The owner of the winning tattoo will receive a $100 Feathered Gems jewelry gift
certificate.
In the case that
two or more tattoos receive the same number of votes,
the
prize will be split between the winners.
AND we'll draw
one ticket from all those votes, and one lucky voter will
receive a
$50
Feathered Gems jewelry gift certificate!
*That's why it's important to put your name and a phone number where you can be reached during Dewey weekend on your voting tickets!
New this year, absentee voting!
If
you won't be attending Dewey 2008 but you really want to vote for a friend's
tattoo,
you may mail us a check
for any dollar amount made out to Morris Animal Foundation with
information
on the tattoo for which you want to vote. We'll put the tickets in for you when
voting
starts. If you just want to enter the voter drawing but don't care who you vote
for, send the check made
out to Morris and tell us to drop your tickets in randomly. We'll spread them
among
as many of the photos as we can.
